長い間アメリカに住みながら、イエローストーンという世界最古の国立公園を訪れたことはありませんでしたけれど、息子と最近ユタ州に住む友人を訪ね、其の帰りイエローストーンのほんの一部分を通過してきました。
通過したほんの一部分は、公園南西部の大小の間欠泉が吹き出る辺りで、箱根の大涌谷小涌谷を大規模にしたよう所でした。
アメリカではスプリングと名の付いたところだからと言って温泉宿があるわけではなく、イエローストーンのこの界隈では、入りたければ川の中の温泉の出ているところに入ればいいそうです。
「日本だったら、沢山の情緒ある温泉宿ができるのに。なんかもったいないな」 温泉好きの私は思うのですけれど、息子が言うには「自然のままにしておくのさ。温泉は熊も使っているし、ほかの動物達も使っているのだからね。」
なるほどね。人間様が彼らから取り上げるのも良くないね。それと言うのも自然が大きな国だから、ゆとりがあるということよね。

"In Japan, wherever hot spring is, there are a lot of beautiful hotel for people to enjoy . different from America" I said so because I love hot spring so much. My son said "We should keep nature as it is. Bear use hot spring also another animals."
I see. Not good for human-like take from them. Because it's a big country that there is room to think of others.
水っぽいシアトルですけれど、本日のハロウィンはかなりの雨に一日中見舞われています。
多少人里はなれた我が家にはさすが来るお化けもいなかろうと、少しのチョコレートだけを用意しております。
それにしても日本では渋谷あたりで、大騒ぎのハロウィンのようですね。

無人スパイ機みたいな危険な話でしたけれど、”ドローン” の発音が、お化けとか化け狸を発想してしまいます。
英語で発音するとそれほど気になるわけでもなく、特別の注意を払ってはおりませんでした。
ただ昨年の秋ごろに、クリスマスの宅配を無人配達機で配達する会社が現れそうだという噂がたっておりました。
トンボが飛び交うように微笑ましく、各家にどんな形の無人機がやってくるのか、ありうる話なのか期待していたのですけれど、実現はしませんでしたね。
そして昨日２階の窓越しに、隣のおじさんが何やら空中に舞い上がらせているのが不思議な物体なので、息子か親父さんに見せたいと探したのでしたけれど、あいにく彼らは夫々の用事に忙しくしており、確認することができないまま、隣人は家の中に入って行ってしまいました。
息子に凧でもない、飛行機でもない不思議な物体を隣人が空中に上げていた旨を伝えると、「ドローンだろう」とごく普通に口にしました。
