シアトルの初秋 苦しみと悲しみと ──魂の試練 Suffering and Sadness ── Trials of the Soul

前章では再生というスピリチュアリズム思想の中でも最も異論の多い課題を取り上げました。たとえ異論はあっても、そこに必ずや真実があるはずであり、万一再生することが真実であれば、これほど人生観に与える影響の大きいものはないと考えたからです。

　影響が大きいと言えば、死後の存続という事実こそ、まずだれにとっても画期的な影響を与える話題であるはずです。

私自身も哲学的な思考の芽生え始めた高校時代にスピリチュアリズムに接して、万一死後もこのまま生き続けるとしたら、賢こぶった哲学的で抽象的な思考にふけっている場合ではないという、せっぱつまった心境で心霊学に取り組み、結果的には一種の思考革命のようなものを体験しました。

　つまり〝生と死〟を深刻な主題としていた思考形式から、死を超越した生のみの思考形式に変異し、それ以後は想像の翼がひとりでにはばたいて、自由自在に広がっていく思いがしました。そしてそれは今なお続いており、私にとってこれほど楽しいレクリエーションはないといってもいいほどです。

　それというのも、シルバー・バーチやマイヤース、イムペレーター等のアカ抜けのした霊界通信のおかげにほかならないのですが、その前に、心霊実験会において目に見えない霊の存在をまざまざと見せつけられていたことが大きな転換のキッカケとなっているようです。


　この死後の存続という事実は今では少なくともスピリチュアリズムでは自明の事実であり、真理探究の大前提となっておりますが、私は、前章でも述べた通り、再生に関する事実も、第一級の霊界通信の述べるところが完全に符節を合しているところから、まず前章で紹介したところが再生の真相とみて差し支えないと信じます。

　とくに半世紀にわたるシルバー・バーチの霊言が、その間いささかの矛盾撞着もなく、首尾一貫して同じ説を述べ続けていることに注目すべきだと考えます。苦しみと悲しみと　──魂の試練

　そのシルバー・バーチが説いていることの中で特に着目すべきことは、いかなる真理も、それを受け入れる準備が魂に備わるまで、言いかえればそれを理解するだけの意識の開発、難かしく言えば霊格の進化がなければ決して悟ることはできない、ということです。

　従って知識ばかりをいくら溜め込んでも、それが即その人の成長のあかしとはならない。シルバー・バーチの譬えでいえば、世界中の蔵書を全部読んだところで、それを実地に体得しないことには何にもならない。再生する目的はつまるところは体験を求めに来ることにほかならない、というわけです。

　さてその〝体験〟ということを考えてみますと、同じ条件下に置かれても、人によってその反応は百人百様の違いがあるはずです。ましてや男性と女性とでは比較しようもないほどの差があります。

男らしいといい、女らしいといっても、地上の人間に関するかぎり、それは肉体の生理的表現にすぎず、つきつめて言えば性ホルモンの違いというにすぎません。前章のシルバー・バーチの最後の言葉にあるように、大半の人間は物質によって魂が右往左往しているのが現実の姿であることは確かです。

　そうなると当然一回や二回の地上生活ではとても十分とは言えないわけで、その辺に再生の必要性が生じてくるわけですが、厳密に言えばマイヤースの言う通り、たとえ何十回何百回再生を繰り返しても地上体験による魂の成長には限度がある。

つまり魂に響くほどの体験、俗な言い方をすれば、骨身にしみるほどの体験がそうやたらにあるものではないことは、実際に地上生活を送っているわれわれが一ばんよく知っています。

　となると、漫然と日常生活を送ることには何の意味もないことになり、そこに守護霊を中心とする背後霊団の配慮の必要性が生じてまいります。表向きは平凡な生活を送っているようで、その実は次々と悩みや苦労、悲しみのタネが絶えないのが現実です。

シルバー・バーチに言わせれば、それは全て魂の試練として神が与えて下さるのであって、それが無かったら人生は何の意味もないと言います。


　『あなたがたもそのうち肉体の束縛から離れて、物質的な曇りのない目で、地上で送った人生を振り返る時が来るでしょう。その時、その出来ごとの一つ一つがそれぞれに意味をもち、魂の成長と可能性の開発にとってそれなりの教訓をもっていたことを知るはずです。』

　そう述べて、困難も試練もない、トラブルも痛みもない人生は到底あり得ないことを強調します。では少し長くなりますが、シルバー・バーチの訓えに耳を傾けてみましょう。

In other words, the thinking style that had "life and death" as a serious theme changed to a thinking style that transcends death and is only life, and after that, the wings of the imagination fluttered alone, and I thought that it would spread freely. .. And that's still going on, and it's hard to say that recreation is more fun for me.

That's because of the ghostly communication of Silver Birch, Myers, Imperator, etc., but before that, the existence of invisible spirits was clearly shown at the psychic experiment meeting. It seems that what was being done was the key to a major shift.

This fact of survival after death is now a self-evident fact, at least in spiritualism, and is a major premise for the search for truth, but as I mentioned in the previous chapter, the facts about rebirth are also first-class spiritual worlds. I believe that the facts introduced in the previous chapter can be regarded as the truth of reproduction, since the statements made in the communication are completely consistent.

Therefore, no matter how much knowledge is accumulated, it does not immediately prove the person's growth. In the analogy of Silver Birch, reading all the books in the world doesn't mean that you can't really learn them. The purpose of reproduction is, after all, to come for an experience.

Now, considering that "experience", even if it is placed under the same conditions, the reaction should differ from person to person. There is an incomparable difference between men and women.

Manly and feminine, as far as humans on earth are concerned, are nothing more than physiological expressions of the body, and in the end they are just differences in sex hormones. As mentioned in the last words of Silver Birch in the previous chapter, it is certain that most human beings actually have their souls moving back and forth due to matter.

In that case, of course, one or two times of life on the ground is not very enough, and there is a need for regeneration in that area, but strictly speaking, as Myers says, even tens of times and hundreds of times. There is a limit to the growth of the soul through the ground experience even if the reproduction is repeated.

In other words, we, who are actually living on earth, know best that there are not so many experiences that resonate with the soul, or to put it bluntly.

When it comes to that, there is no point in living a casual daily life, and there is a need for consideration of the behind-the-scenes spirits centered on the guardian spirit. On the face of it, it seems that they are living a mediocre life, and the reality is that the seeds of worries, hardships, and sadness are constant one after another.

According to Silver Birch, it's all God-given as a test of the soul, and without it life wouldn't mean anything.
