最高位の徳とは、善人の持ち合わせるすべての本質的な特徴の集まりです。善くあり、慈善を行い、努力家であり、質素で、慎ましくあることは徳の高い人の特徴です。しかし残念なことに、大抵こうした徳とともに、小さな道徳的な病が同居し、徳を弱めてしまっています。

自分の徳を見せびらかす人は徳が高いとは言えません。なぜならそこには謙虚さという最も重要な特徴が欠けているからです。反対に、そこには謙虚さとまったく反する悪癖である自尊心が存在しているのです。

美徳と呼ばれるにふさわしい徳は、目立つことを好みません。そうした徳とはたとえその存在が想像できても、闇の中に隠れ、人々の賞賛から逃れようとします。聖ヴィンセンティオ・デ・パウロは、徳の高い人でした。

クーラ・ダール（アルスの司祭・聖ウ“ィアンネー）やその他の大勢の人々も高徳で、世界的に知られてはいませんが、神には知られているのです。

これらの善人たちはみな、自分たちが徳が高いということなど気にもしませんでした。自らの聖なるインスピレーションに任せ、完全に私心を捨て、完全なる自己の放棄によって善を行いました。

　子供たちよ、私はこのように理解され、実践される徳にあなたたちを招きます。この真にキリストの教えを守る、真なるスピリティストの徳にこそ、あなたたちに身を捧げて欲しいとお誘いします。しかし、あなたの心から自尊心、虚栄心、自己愛といった、最も美しい特徴をいつも失わせてしまうものはすべて遠ざけてください。

模範として自ら現れ、自分から自分の特徴を嫌がらずに聞いてくれる耳に向かって言いふらす者のマネをしてはいけません。そのように目立つ徳には多くの場合、多数の小さな醜行や憎まれるべき臆病が隠されています。

　概して、目立とうとする者、徳によって自分自身の彫像を建てようとする者は、そのことだけによって手に入れることのできたあらゆる実際の功労を打ち消してしまいます。

では、実際の姿とは違った姿で現れることばかりに価値を置いている人については、どう言えばよいのでしょうか。善を行う者は、間違いなく心のうちに満足感を抱くものです。しかし、その満足を外面的に現し、他人からの賞賛を得ようとした時、それは自己愛に転落してしまうのではないでしょうか。

　スピリティズムの信仰によって心を熱くしたあなたたちは、人類がその完成からどれだけ遠いところにあるかを知っているのですから、決して他人の賞賛を得ようとしてつまずいてはいけません。

すべての誠実なスピリティストに私は徳を積むことを望みます。しかしながら、あなたたちに申しあげます。謙虚さを伴う少ない徳の方が、自尊心を伴う多くの徳よりも価値があります。

the highest virtue is a collection of all the essential characteristics of a good man. Being good, philanthropic, hardworking, spartan, and humble are the hallmarks of a virtuous person. But unfortunately, these virtues are usually accompanied by small moral illnesses that weaken them.


A person who shows off his virtue is not very virtuous. Because it lacks the most important feature of humility. On the contrary, there is self-esteem, a bad habit that goes against humility.


Virtues that deserve to be called virtues do not like to stand out. Even if you can imagine their existence, such virtues hide in the darkness and try to escape the admiration of the people. St. Vincentio de Paulo was a virtuous man.

Coola Dahl (Priest of Ars, St. Wu “Ianne) and many others are also virtuous, not known worldwide, but known to God.

All of these good men didn't even care that they were virtuous. He left it to his holy inspiration, completely abandoned his self, and did good by completely abandoning himself.

Children, I invite you to the virtue that is understood and practiced in this way. We invite you to devote yourself to this true spiritual virtue that truly protects the teachings of Christ. But keep away from your heart anything that always loses its most beautiful traits, such as self-esteem, vanity, and narcissism.

Don't imitate someone who appears as a model and speaks to your ears who are willing to listen to your characteristics. Such prominent virtues often hide numerous small ugliness and hateful cowardice.


In general, those who try to stand out, those who try to build their own statues by virtue, negate any actual merit that could be obtained by that alone.


But what about those who value only appearing in a different way than they really are? Those who do good are undoubtedly satisfied in their hearts. However, when you try to express that satisfaction externally and get praise from others, it may fall into narcissism.


You who are passionate about the belief in spiritism know how far humanity is from its perfection, so never stumble on the praise of others.


I hope to be virtuous to all sincere spiritists. However, I would like to say to you. Less virtues with humility are more valuable than many virtues with self-esteem.
