　本日お集まりの方の中には、このことを耳にタコが出来るほど聞いておられる方がいらっしゃいます。さぞかしうんざりされることでしょうが、でもやはり真実です。平凡な真理は、たとえ何度繰り返しても真理です。くり返すことによって真実性が減じることはありません。

　私から申し上げたいのは、皆さんは有限の世界で生活する有限の存在だということです。無限の知識から手にすることのできる分量は、皆さんが霊的・精神的に到達した発達段階によって制限されます。

これまでに受け入れられた知識はしっかりと吟味したうえで真実であると確信されたものです。その知識の上に、まだ掲示されずにいるものに対する信仰心（信念）を築くのです。それは理不尽なものではありません。立証可能な事実を土台としています。

　地上の人間の態度をみていてどうも理屈に合わないと思うことの一つは、物的な惰眠から目覚めるまでにはさんざん時間が掛かっているのに、いったん目覚めると、今度は急にせっかちになることです。どんどん事が運ぶことを期待するのですが、そうはまいりません。

霊的な進歩は着実でないといけません。近道というものはないのです。一歩一歩をしっかりと足固めしながら進まないといけません。一歩進むごとに次に進むべき方角が開けます。

　これまでに啓示していただいたものを基盤にして，ひとまずそれに甘んじるのです。そしてもしも疑問が生じたら───きっと生じるものです、あるいはもしも疑念が湧いたら───必ず湧くものです、

そしてもしも困難が厄介な頭をもたげはじめたら、慌てず我慢するのです。霊の力は物質に勝ることを忘れないことです。霊界から働きかけやすい条件さえ提供してくれれば、いかなる障害も、いかなる困難も、いかなるハンディキャップも、霊の力で克服できないものはありません。

　私の名はシルバーバーチではありません。これは私がバイブレーションを下げて地上世界とコンタクトすることを可能にしてくれる一種の変圧器の役目をしている、かつて地上でインディアンだった霊の名前です。

　いずれにしても名前はどうでもよいことです。私に関するかぎり名前は何の価値もありません。これまで一度も地上時代の名を明かしたことはありません。

　私は絶対に過ちを犯さない、進化の頂上を極めた霊ではありません。そういうことは有り得ないことです。進化というのは永遠に続く過程だからです。これで完全です、というピリオドはないのです。向上すればするほど、まだその先に向上すべき余地があることを知るのです。

　私たちがお届けするのは神の叡智とインスピレーションの宝庫から取り出した崇高な真理です。といって私たちはそれを無理にも信じていただこうとは思っておりません。私たちの言う通りにしなさいとは申しません。宇宙の大霊との調和にとってこれ以上のよい方法はないと断言しているのでもありません。

　魂が内在する可能性を発揮するのは逆境の中にある時こそです。のんきな生活の中では霊性は磨かれません。苦しい道こそ有難いのです。その道を歩み続けるうちに、見慣れた道路標識や目印（伝統的な宗教儀式、迷信的概念、生活慣習等）が後へ後へと残されていきます。が、

心の奥では自ら見出して真理を土台とした信念がますます深まりゆくものです。（別のところでは〝霊的進化の旅は孤独なものです。が、行くほどに内なる喜びで心が満たされてまいります〟と述べている───訳者）

　過ぎ去ったことは忘れることです。すでに後ろのものとなりました。前にあるものが大切です。言うまでもなく、今あなたが味わっている結果を生み出した原因は過去にあります。しかし同時にあなたは、これから結果を生み出す原因を今作りつつあるのです。良いタネを蒔くように努力なさることです。

　私は全知識の所有者ではありません。霊的進化の終点まで到達したわけではありません。まだまだ辿らねばならない道が延々と続いております。ただ、あなた方地上の人間に比べれば幾らかは年季が入っておりますので、私を豊かにしてくれることになった霊的真理を幾つか知っております。

　その知識を受け入れる用意のできている地上の人たちと分かち合うために、私はこれまで辿ってきた道を後戻りしてまいりました。私はまだまだ完全ではありません。

定期的にクリスマス（冬至）とイースター（夏至）の二度、この地上から引き上げて、そのイエスが主催される大集会に参列する際に拝謁しております。

今イエスは二千年前にご自身が身をもって示しながら、その信奉者をもって任ずる人々によって台無しにされてしまった霊的真理の普及に携わっておられます。

　太古において太陽がその輝きを最高度に発揮する時期（夏至、6月下旬、旧暦5月中旬）が〝復活〟（ﾖﾐｶﾞｴﾘ）の時、つまり大自然が讃歌を奏で、見事な美しさを披露する時とみなされました。言いかえれば、蒔かれたタネがその頃に華麗なる成長を遂げると考えたのです。

　それに呼応して冬至（12月下旬、旧暦1月中旬）があります。最高の輝きを見せた太陽が衰え始めると、大自然はエネルギーを蓄え、根を肥やしながら季節の一巡の終わりを迎えると考えたのです。来るべき夏至にその成長ぶりを披露するのに備えるというわけです。

　そういうわけでクリスマスは永い一年の巡りの終わりであると同時に、太陽の誕生、新たなる生命が地上へ誕生する、その最初の兆しを見せる時期だと、太古の人は考えました。

　この二つの時期は太古において大切な意味をもっておりました。と申しますのは、〝神のお告げ〟はその二つの時期に授けられると信じられたからです。あなた方現代人は太陽の持つ神秘的な影響力をご存知ありません。

太古の人はその時期に今でいう交霊会を何日にもわたって大々的に催したものでした。その時期にたっぷりと啓示を頂いたのです。

　そこで私たち霊団の指導的役割を担う者は、誕生に相当する人生で最も大切なこの時期（ｸﾘｽﾏｽ）に一堂に会して祝い合うのです。その始まりは太陽の影響力への讃美ということでしたが、それは一種の象徴（ｼﾝﾎﾞﾙ）であり、実質的には生命が他の生命へ及ぼす影響力、物質が他の物質へ及ぼす影響力、惑星が他の惑星へ及ぼす影響力、などが含まれております。

　とくに一年のこの時期が選ばれたのは、私たちに協力してくれている霊たちの地上時代に属していた民族が大自然の摂理を基盤とした宗教をもっていたからです。古い時代の私たちにとっては太陽の誕生の祝いが最大の祝いでした。

それは新しい年の始まりに他ならないからです。四季のめぐりの終わりであると同時に新しいめぐりの始まりでもあるわけです。

　そうした祝いがかつて地上で催されていたことから、これを霊界でも祝うことになりました。もとより、今では霊的な意味をもつようになっております。つまり新しい生命の誕生を祝うのではなく、地上からいったん引き上げて、新しい光を地上へもたらすために霊力の回復を図ることを目的としております。

今この仕事に従事している霊団の者は、地上時代は西洋文明を知らない古い民族に属していましたから、（キリスト教的な祝い方と違ってこの時期を地上から引きげて私たちの本来の所属界へ帰還する機会としております。

　帰還すると評議会のようなものを開き、互いに自分たちの霊団の経過報告をし、どこまで計画通りに行き、どこが計画通りに行っていないかを検討し合います。それとともに新たな計画を討議し合います。私達を地上へ派遣した神庁の方々とお会いするのもその時です。

　その中にかのナザレのイエスの雄姿があるのです。イエスは今なお人類に古来の大真理すなわち〝愛は摂理の成就なり〟を教える大事業に携わっておられます。そのイエスが私たちの業績に逐一通じておられるお言葉を述べられ、新たな力、新たな希望、新たなビジョン、新たな目的をもって邁進するようにと励まして下さる時のそのお姿、そのお声、その偉大なる愛を、願わくば皆さんにも拝し聞きそして感じ取らせてあげられればと思うのですが･････

　もとよりそれはキリスト教によって神の座に祭り上げられているイエスではありません。数知れない道具を通して人類に働きかけておられる、一個の偉大なる霊なのです。

　その本来の界に留まっているのは短い期間ですが、私はその間に改めて生命力溢れる霊力、力強さと美しさに溢れるエネルギーに浸ります。

　仮に世界最高の絵画のすべて、物質界最高のインスピレーションと芸術的手腕、それに大自然の深くかつ壮大な美を全部集めて一つにまとめてみても、私の本来の所属界の荘厳美麗な実在に比べれば、至ってお粗末な反映程度のものでしかありません。

　芸術家がインスピレーションに浸ると、手持ちの絵具ではとても表現できそうにないことを痛感して、魂で感じ取ったその豊かな美しさを表現するための色彩を求めます。が、それは地上のどこにも存在しません。霊的な真理と美しさは物的なものでは表現できないのです。

　そうした界層での私の霊的な高揚状態がどうして言語などで表現できましょう。大霊の光輝を全身から放っている存在となっているのです。（章末注参照）

　叡智と理解力と慈悲と優しさに満ち、人間の側から訴えられる前にすべてを察知し、心の中を読み取り、心の動きに通じ、成功も失敗も知り尽くしております。

　全ての宗教の根幹でありイエスの教えの集約でもある、かの愛の名言（愛とは摂理の成就なり）は、全生命の主、無限の創造者たる大霊の名において私たちもその真実性を宣言するものです。

　かくして私たちは本来の霊的状態へ戻り、本来の環境である光彩と喜びと光輝と笑いと豊かさと崇高さと荘厳さを味わいます。その中に浸り、その喜びを味わい、私たちにとってはごく当たり前の状態である壮観を取り戻します。それが私たちのお祝いです。

　助言を頂き、感激を味わい、気分を一新し、元気百倍し、心身ともにすっかり生き返った私たちは、やおらこの冷ややかで陰うつでじめじめとして味気ない、暗い地上世界へと赴き、厚く包み込むそのモヤと霧を払い、真理の光を輝かせるための仕事を再開します。

　地上のクリスマスシーズンにも愛の精神の発露が見られないわけではありません。それが親切と寛容の形をとり、また施しの精神となって表現されております。旧交を温め、縁を確認し合い、離ればなれになった者が一堂に会するということの中にもそれが見られ、又、かつての恨みはもう忘れようという決意をさせることにもなります。

　しかし残念でならないのは、それに先立って大量の動物が殺害されることです。物言わぬ神の子が無益な犠牲とされていることです。〝平和の君〟キリストの誕生がそうした恐ろしい虐殺によって祝われるということは何と悲しいことでしょう。

なぜ平和を祝うために罪もない動物の血が流されねばならないのでしょう。これはまさに地上世界の磔刑（ﾊﾘﾂｹ）です。罪なき動物に流血の犠牲を強いて平和を祝うとは･･････

　いつの日か愛と哀れみと慈悲と責任感とが人間を動かし、助けを求める動物たちへの態度を改めることになるでしょう。そうした資質が発揮されるようになってはじめて、罪もない動物への容赦ない流血と残酷と無益な実験も行われなくなることでしょう。地上に真実の平和が訪れ、狼が小羊と並んで寝そべることになりましょう。

訳者注──シルバーバーチはよく〝光り輝く存在〟shining ones　という言い方をする。日本でいう〝八百万の神々〟西洋でいう〝天使〟で、『ベールの彼方の生活』第三巻＜天界の政庁＞篇ではその存在の様子がアニメ風に語られている。

　ただ注意しなければならないのは、その通信霊のアーネルやシルバーバーチが述べているのはあくまでも地球神界つまり地球の創造界のことで、その上には太陽神界があり、さらにその上には太陽系が属する銀河系神界があり、さらには星雲が幾つか集まった規模の神界があり、最後は（少なくとも理屈の上では）宇宙全体の神界があることになる。

　シルバーバーチはその内奥界を含めた宇宙を　Cosmos （ｺｽﾞﾓｽ）と呼び、物的宇宙を Universe （ﾕﾆﾊﾞｰｽ）と呼んで使い分けている。が、そのコズモスは無限・無辺であるとも言っている。

Full of wisdom, comprehension, mercy and kindness, we know everything before being sued by humans, read in our hearts, understand the movements of our hearts, and know all about successes and failures.

The quote of love (love is the fulfillment of providence), which is the basis of all religions and the sum of the teachings of Jesus, is in the name of the Spirit, the Lord of all life and the infinite Creator. It declares the truth.

Only when those qualities are demonstrated will the relentless bloodshed, cruel and futile experiments on innocent animals cease. True peace will come to earth, and wolves will lie alongside the lamb.
