続いて“苦の効用”について問われて―
「体験の一つ一つがあなたの人生を織りなしております。皆さんは永遠というものを目先の出来事で裁こうとなさいます。表面上の矛盾撞着に捉われて、人生全体を大霊の叡智の糸が通っていることが理解できないのです。
調和を基調とするこの大宇宙の中で、あなた方一人ひとりが大霊の計画の推進に貢献しておられます。人生の出来事―時には辛く絶望的であり、時には苦しく悲劇的であったりしますが―その一つ一つが、これからたどり行く道に備えて、魂を鍛える役割を果たしているのです。
光と闇、日向と陰、こうしたものは一つの全体像の反映にすぎません。陰なくしては光もなく、光なくしては陰も存在しません。人生の苦難は魂が向上していくための階段です。
困難・障害・不利な条件―これらは魂の試練なのです。それらを克服していくことによって魂がいっそう充実し、向上し、一段と強くそして純粋になってまいります。
あなたは、無限の可能性を秘めた魂の潜在力が、困難も苦痛もなく、陰もなく悲しみもなく、人生の浮き沈みを何一つ体験せずして発揮されると思われますか？ もちろんそうは思われないでしょう。
人生の喜び、愉快な笑いの時は、人生の辛酸をなめつくして初めて解るのです。なぜなら、深く沈んだだけ、それだけ高く上がれるからです。地上生活の陰を体験しただけ、それだけ日向の喜びを味わうことができるのです。
体験のすべてがあなたの進化の肥やしです。そのうちあなたにも、肉体の束縛から解放されて物的な曇りのない目で地上生活を振り返る時がまいります。そうすれば、紆余曲折した一見とりとめもない出来事の絡み合いの中で、一つ一つがちゃんとした意味をもち、あなたの魂を目覚めさせ、その可能性を引き出させる上で意義があったことを、つぶさに理解なさるはずです。
こちら側にいるわたしたちにとって耐え忍ばねばならない最大の試練は、愛情の絆で結ばれている地上の人間が苦難と闘っているのを目のあたりにしながら、それがその人の魂にとって是非とも必要であるとの認識のもとに手をこまねいて見ていなければならない時です。
地上のいかなる体験も、それに正しく対処し正しく理解すれば、必ずや人間にとってプラスになるものを有しております。いったい何の困難も、何の試練も、何のトラブルも、何の苦痛も、何の悩みもない世界が想像できるでしょうか。そこにはもはや向上進化の可能性がないことになります。克服すべきものが何もないことになります。ただ朽ち果てるのみです」
