私は自分がお役にたっていることを光栄に思っているのです。

なのに地上の人間はなぜ知識よりも無知を好み、真理よりも迷信を好み、啓示よりも教理を好むのでしょうか。
それがどうしても理解できないのです。私の理解力を超えた人間的煩悩の一つです。
あなた（質問者）の人生が決して平坦なものでなかったことは私もよく承知しております。
スピリチュアリズムという大きな知識を手にするために数々の大きな困難を体験しなければならない───それが真理への道の宿命であるということがあなたには不可解に思えるのではありませんか。
けっして不可解なことではありません。そうでないといけないのです。
ぜひともご注意申し上げておきたいのは、私はけっして叡知と真理と知識の権化ではないということです。
あなた方より少しばかり多くの年数を生き、地上より次元の高い世界を幾つか体験したというだけの一個の霊にすぎません。
そうした体験のおかげで私は、素朴ではありますが大切な真理を学ぶことができました。
その真理があまりに啓発性に富み有益であることを知った私は、それを受け入れる用意のできた人たちに分けてあげたいと思い、これまでたどってきた道を後戻りしてきたのです。
しかし私もいたって人間的な存在です。
絶対に過ちを犯さない存在ではありません。
間違いをすることがあります。まだまだ不完全です。
書物や定期刊行物では私のことをあたかも完全の頂上を極めた存在であるかのように宣伝しているようですが、とんでもありません。
私はただ、こうして私がお届けしている真理がこれまで教え込まれてきた教説に幻滅を感じている人によって受け入れられてきたこと、そして今そういう方たちの数がますます増えていきつつあること、それだけで有難いと思っているのです。
私は何一つややこしいことは申し上げておりません。
難解な教理を説いているわけではありません。
自然の摂理がこうなっていて、こういう具合に働くのですと申し上げているだけです。
そして私は常に理性に訴えております。
そうした摂理の本当の理解は、それを聞かれた方がなるほどという認識が生まれた時にはじめて得られるのです。
何が何でも信じなさいという態度は私たちの取るところではありません。
霊界からのメッセージが届けられて、その霊がいかに立派そうな名をなのっていようと、もしもその言っていることにあなたの理性が反撥し知性が侮辱されているように思われた時は、遠慮なく拒否しなさいと申し上げております。
理性によって協力が得られないとしたら、それは指導霊としての資格がないということです」
とくに最近になってシルバーバーチは〝指導霊崇拝〟の傾向に対して警告を発するようになった。その理由をこう述べている。
「指導霊といえども完全ではありません。
誤りを犯すことがあります。絶対に誤りを犯さないのは大霊のみです。
私たちも皆さんと少しも変わらない人間的存在であり、誤まりも犯します。
ですから私は、霊の述べたものでも（すぐに鵜呑みにせず）かならず理性によってよく吟味しなさいと申し上げているのです。
私がこうして皆さんからの愛と好意を寄せていただけるようになったのも、私自身の理性で判断して真実であるという確信の得られないものは絶対に口にしていないからです。
私は何一つ命令的なことを述べたこともなければ、無理やりに押しつけようとしたこともありません。
私は霊的にみて一ばん良い結果をもたらすと確信した案内指標（ｶﾞｲﾄﾞﾗｲﾝ）（これはなかなか良い言葉です）をお教えしているのです。
霊的にみてです。
物的な結果と混同してはいけません。
時にはあなた方人間にとって大へんな不幸に思えることが霊的には大へんな利益をもたらすことがあるのです。
人間は問題をことごとく地上的な視点から眺めます。
私たちは同じ問題を霊的な視点から眺めます。
しかも両者は往々にして食い違うものなのです。例えば〝他界する〟ということは地上では〝悲しいこと〟ですが、霊の世界では〝めでたいこと〟なのです。
人間の限られた能力では一つ一つの事態の意義が判断できません。
ですから、前にも申し上げたように、判断できないところは、それまでに得た知識を土台として （すべては佳きに計らわれているのだという） 信念で補うしかありません。しかし、所詮、そこから先のことは各自の自由意志の問題です。
自分の生き方は自分の責任であり、ほかの誰の責任でもありません。
他人の人生は、たとえ肉親といえども代わりに生きてあげるわけにはいかないのです。
その人がしたことはその人の責任であって、あなたの責任ではありません。
もしそうでなかったら神の判断基準は地上の人間の公正な観念よりお粗末であることになります。
自分が努力した分だけを霊的な報酬として受け、努力を怠った分だけを霊的な代償として支払わされます。それが摂理であり、その作用は完璧です。
こうした仕事を通じて私たちが皆さんにお教えしなければならない任務の一つは、私たち自身は実に取るに足らぬ存在であることを認識していただくことです。
どの霊もみな神の使者にすぎないのです。
ですから、自分以外の誰かがその神の意志（ｺｺﾛ）と霊力（ﾐﾁｶﾗ）にあやかれるようにしてあげれば、それは自分に課せられた仕事を成就していることですから、その機会を与えられたことに感謝すべきだと考えるわけです。
私がこうしてこの霊媒を使用するように、私を道具として使用する高級霊団の援助のもとに素朴な真理をお届けすることに集中していると、時として私自身の存在が無くなってしまったような、そんな感じがすることがあります。

神とその子等との間の一層の調和を目的とした感謝の祈りをいつ、どこで、どう捧げるべきかについて、間違いのないようにしないといけません。
もっとも、皆さんからの愛念は大歓迎です。私がこうして使命を継続できているのも地上に愛があるからこそです。
その愛を私がいただけるということは、私が託された仕事を成就しつつあるということです。
これからも、この冷ややかな地上世界に降りた時の何よりの支えとなる愛の温かさを頂戴しつづけるつもりです。
自我の開発───これが人間としてもっとも大切な目的です。それがこうして私たちが霊界から地上へ戻ってくる目的でもあるのです。
すなわち人間に自己開発の方法、言いかえれば霊的革新の方法をお教えすることです。内在する神の恩寵を味わい、平和と調和と協調と友愛の中で生きるにはそれしかないからです。
今の地上にはそれとは逆の〝内紛〟が多すぎます。
数からすれば私たちの霊団は比較的少数ですが、計画は発展の一途をたどっております。
