忘恩は、エゴイズムから直接的に生み出された結果の一つです。
誠実な心は何時もそれに抵抗します。
しかし、子供たちの親に対する忘恩は、更に憎悪のこもったものです。
この視点から特に忘恩について考慮し、原因と結果について分析してみましょう。
この場合にも、他の場合がそうであるように、スピリティズムは人間の心が抱く大きな問題の一つに光をあててくれます。
霊は地上を後にする時、その霊の質的に固有の感情や美徳を持ち合わせて行き、宇宙において完成を遂げたり、光を受けようと望むまでそのまま止まったりします。

赦しなき慈善も、憎悪に満ちた心による慈善も存在しません。
すると、そうした霊たちは今までにしたことの無いような努力によって、それまで地上で誰を憎んでいたのかを見ることができるようになります。
しかし、憎んだ相手を見ると、彼らの心に中には怨みがこみ上げてきます。赦したり、自分自身を犠牲にしたり、彼らの財産、家族、もしくは名誉を破壊した相手を愛すると言った観念に抵抗します。しかし、不幸な彼らの心は動揺します。
彼らは躊躇し、ためらい、相反する感情によって気持ちが乱されます。
その試練の最も決定的な時に、善の決意が優勢であれば、彼らは神に祈り、善霊たちが彼らに力を授けてくれるように懇願することになります。
結果的には、何年もの瞑想と祈りの後に、その霊は自分が嫌った者の家族の一員の肉体を利用することになります。
新たに生まれようとする肉体の運命を自ら満たしに行けるよう、上位からの命令を伝える霊たちに許可を求めます。選ばれた家族の中で、その霊の行いはどうなるのでしょうか。

その時の人生の中に、そのような反感を実際に生む原因となるようなことは何も起きていません。その原因を知るには、私たちの目を過去の人生に向ける必要があるのです。
ああ、スピリティストたちよ、人類のもつ大きな役割を理解しなければいけません。
肉体が創られるとき、その中に宿る魂は進歩するために宇宙からやってくるのです。
あなたたちの義務についてよく知り、その魂が神に近づくことができるように、あなたたちの全ての愛情を注いでください。
それが神よってあなたたちに任された任務であり、それを忠実に遂げることができればその報酬を受け取ることが出来るのです。
その魂にあなたたちが払う注意と与える教育は、その魂の未来での完成と平安を助けることになります。
神はすべての父親にも母親にも、
「私があなたに加護を任せた子を、あなたたちはどうしましたか」と尋ねるのだということを覚えておいてください。
もしあなたの責任でその子の進歩が遅れたままであったなら、罰としてその魂を苦しむ霊たちの間に見ることになり、その時、あなたはその魂の幸せの責任を負っていることになります。
すると、あなたたちは後悔の念に悩まされ、あなたたちの犯した過ちの謝罪を求めます。

神が母性に結び合わせた神聖なる喜びを享受するのに、あなたたちが相応しくなるように、子供たちに、私たちは地上で完成し、愛し合い、祝福されるために生まれてきたのだということを教えてあげてください。
