　私は訴える
　そこで私が訴えたいのは、何はともあれ、個性の死後存続を証明する霊界通信を読まれることだ。世間一般の人だけでなく、心霊現象の実在を信じている人でも、読まない人が多すぎる。ぜひとも読んで、真理の厳粛さをしみじみ味わっていただきたい。その圧倒的な説得力のある証拠性に触れてみてほしい。現象的なものから手を引いて、ウィリアム・ステッドの『死後──ジュリアからの便り（4）』やステイントン・モーゼスの『霊訓（5）』のような珠玉の霊界通信を読んで、その崇高な教訓を学ばれることだ。

　他にも、価値は劣るが、高度な内容の通信が実に数多く入手されている。そういうものを読まれることによって、視野を広げ、人生観に霊的要素を取り入れてほしい。そして、それを実生活に生かしてほしい。われわれも遅かれ早かれ同じ世界へと進むことになっているということを、信仰や信念としてではなく、今こうして地上に生きているという事実と同じくらい現実味をもった事実として認識してほしいのである。

　そこは、あらゆる〝苦〟から解放された、幸福そのものの世界である。唯一その幸福を妨げるものは、この短い地上生活の中で犯した愚かしい行為と利己的行為である。地上にあっても、死後においても〝無私・無欲〟ということが幸せと向上の基調であるらしいのである。

　ここで改めて指摘しておかねばならないのは、この〝新しい啓示〟は、キリスト教のドグマを頑固に信じている人にとっては破壊的なものとして受け止められても、キリスト教的体制が途方もない巨大な〝虚構〟であることを見抜いている人にとっては、まったく逆の影響を及ぼしているということである。

〝古い啓示〟にも類似したものが数多く見られることは事実である。同じ始源から発しているからである。しかし、それも時の経過とともに損傷が進み、人間の身勝手な誤用と唯物観によって台なしにされていながら、体制としての威力だけは隠然たるものがある。

　今、それと同じ源から発した新しい啓示によって、死後の生活、高級霊の存在、地上における行為を基準とした死後の境遇、苦難による浄化、守護霊並びに指導霊の存在、宇宙の無限なる中心的エネルギーとしての神の存在、その神へ向けての無限に連なる向上進化の道程──こうしたことについての再確認がなされたのである。

　古来、神は人類の意識の進化に応じて、さまざまな形で啓示を垂れてきている。それがキリスト教神学者の無謬性（絶対に間違いがない）と独占権の乱用、偏狭と知ったかぶり、加えて人工の儀式典礼によって肝心の生命が抜き取られたのである。げに、真理を台なしにしたのはキリスト教神学、これ一つに尽きる。

　この小著を終えるに当たって、ぜひとも紹介しておきたい一節がある。これは英国の詩人であり高邁な思想家であったジュエラルド・マッセー氏（6）の『スピリチュアリズムについて』で述べられたもので、その考え方といい文体といい、私は最高の敬意を払うものである。

《私にとってスピリチュアリズムは、他の大勢の方たちと同じように、それまでの狭い精神的地平線を広げて〝天界〟を見せてくれた恩人である。その、信念から事実への見事な凝縮はまさに天啓で、それを知らずに送る人生は、ハッチを密閉してローソク一本の光で送る、暗く窮屈な生活以外の何ものでもない。

　そんな生活の中で、ある星の降るような夜、ふとハッチを開けてデッキに出てみたら、途方もなくでかい天空の大機構が、神の栄光に燦然と輝いていた───その手引きをしてくれたのがスピリチュアリズムだったのである》
