シアトルの早春 大切なのは〝行為〟です。 What matters is “action”.

　〝宗教的〟とみなされている行事のすべてを行っても、それによって一段と価値ある人生へ魂を鼓舞することにならなければ、私たちが考えている意味での宗教的人間になるわけではありません。

　肩書（ラベル）はどうでもいいのです。形式はどうでもいいのです。口先だけの文句はどうでもいいのです。大切なのは〝行為〟です。どういうことをしているかです。つまり各自の日常の生活そのものです。

　私たちは因果律という絶対的な摂理を説きます。つまり誰一人として神の摂理のウラをかくことはできません。ごまかすことはできません。自分が自分の救い主であり、贖い主であり、自分の過ちには自分が罰を受け、善行に対する報酬も自分が受けると説くのです。

　また、神の摂理は機械的に機能し、自動的に作用すると説きます。すなわち、親切・寛容・同情・奉仕の行為が自動的に、それ相応の結果をもたらして霊性を高め、反対に利己主義・罪悪・不寛容の精神は自動的に霊性を下げます。この法則は変えようにも変えられないのです。みっともない執行猶予も、安価な赦免もありません。

神の公正が全宇宙に行きわたっております。霊的な小人が巨人のふりをしてもごまかせません。死後の床での悔い改めも通用しません。

　巨大なる宇宙の中で生じるもの全てに責任を持つ大霊の、不変にして絶対的威力を有する摂理に目を向けましょう。私は常にその摂理を念頭に置いています。

なぜなら私たちの説く神は、人間的弱点───激情や憤怒に動かされたり、好きな人間と嫌いな人間とを選り分けたりするような、そんな人間的存在ではないからです。

　私が見る宇宙は法則によって支配されています。すみずみまで行きわたり、これからも常に永遠に存在しつづける法則です。

地上の人間に永い間振り回され、隷属させられてきた誤った概念と虚偽、偏見と無知を無くしていくには、地上の生命現象と生活現象のすべてが、その絶対的法則によって支配されていることを教える以外に方法はありません。

　その知識が少しでも増えれば、それだけ理解力も豊かになるでしょう。本来の美しさを遮っていたベールが取り除かれ、有限の地上的存在の視野を超えた所に存在する、より大きな生活を少しでも垣間見ることになるでしょう。

　かくして私たちは、常に神の永遠の自然法則、絶対に狂うことも過つこともない法則、地位の高い低いに関わりなく、すべての存在に等しく働く法則に、忠誠と感謝の念を捧げるものです。

誰一人として等閑（なおざり）にされることはありません。誰一人として独りぼっちの者はいません。法則の働きの及ばない者。範囲からはみ出る者など、一人もいません。あなたがこの世に存在するという事実そのものが、神の摂理の証しです。

真理は永遠不滅です。

しかも無限の側面があります。

なのに人間は

自分が手にした一側面をもって真理の全体であると思い込みます。

そこから誤りが始まります。

全体などではありません。

進化するにつれて理解力が増し、

他の側面を受け入れる用意ができるのです。

生命活動とは断え間なく広がり行く永遠の開発過程のことです。

真理の探究は無限に続きます。

「自然が要求するものを無視するわけにはまいりません。人間も霊的存在であるとはいえ、今生きているのは物質界です。

あなたの霊にとっては、その身体を通して表現するしかなく、その身体は物質で出来ているのですから、ある一定の物質的必要性に応じざるを得ません。運動も必要です。

食べるものも必要です。身を宿すところも必要です。

光も空気も要りますし、適度の手入れも必要です。

疲れた時は休ませてやらねばなりません。器官ないし機能に障害が生じれば、治さなくてはなりません。

そうした必要性に無関心でいると、そのうちそのツケが回ってきます。

たとえ医者から薬という薬を貰えるだけ貰っても、それは大霊が用意している治療法の代用にはなりません。

痛みは軽減するかも知れません。一時しのぎにはなるでしょう。が、本当の意味での治療にはなりません。

痛みを止めることはできます。和らげることはできます。反対に、刺激を与えて興奮させることもできます。

が、身体が要求しているのは大自然が与えてくれるものです。


わたしが春がもたらしてくれるものを精いっぱい活用しなさいと申し上げるのは、そのためです。

新しい生命の芽生え――それは霊性の発現にほかなりません――これには大自然の強烈な回復力が秘められております。

それをご自分の身体に摂取すれば、バッテリーに充電することになります。

冬の間どうしても弱まりがちな生命力が増強されます。

その時点でしっかりと貯えておけば、夏、秋と過ごし、やがて大自然が――物的活動に関するかぎり――眠りにつく冬に入っても、安心して休めることになります。

大霊が有り余るほど用意してくださり、自由に摂取してほしいと望んでおられるものを、存分に我がものとなさることです」
